At the 2014 Shooting World Championships in Granada, Spain, Jitu Rai won India’s first quota place for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Jitu Rai hails from Lucknow and is one of the best pistol shooters in India at present. He is the top ranked Indian shooter in both 10 m Air Pistol and 50 m Free Pistol. In 2013 when he qualified for the World Cup final in 2 world cups in Munich, Germany and Changwon, Korea in the 50 m Free Pistol event.

Jitu created history in 2014 when he won 3 world cup medals in the span of 9 days. He won a Gold and Silver medal in 10 m Air Pistol in Munich and Maribor and he won a Silver medal in 50 m Free Pistol in Maribor.

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Jitu won the Gold medal in the 50 m Free Pistol event with a Games record in both the qualification and the final. He won the Silver medal in the 50 m Free Pistol event. Jitu won the Gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games in the 50 m Free Pistol event and a Team bronze medal in the 10 Air Pistol event.

Jitu is dedicated, disciplined and working hard to win laurels for India. We all are hoping that he would bring glory to the nation by shooting a gold in the Olympics!!
